Pastor Maury Davis Gives You Tips to Find Time to Read the Bible

1Many people struggle with not having enough time in the day to read the Bible.  Does something tragic really have to happen to get people devoted to the Bible?  Not at all.  Many people struggle to find time out of their busy schedules to devote to the Bible, but if you don’t devote time to the Bible, you’ll never learn God’s commandments.  You will never know them unless you get acquainted with the Bible.  To help you along the way, Pastor Maury Davis from the Cornerstone Church in Nashville is going to teach you how to find time to start reading the Bible.

Tip #1 – Understand That the Word of God Should Take Priority in Your Life

Until you decide that the word of God is the most important thing in your life, you’ll never make it a priority.  You need to devote yourself to reading the Bible every day.  Read it to yourself, to your spouse, and to your children.

Tip #2 – Pray That God Allows You to Take His Word More Seriously

Admit it, everyone lacks a little enthusiasm or procrastinates just a little too much.  Pray that God allows you to take the Bible more seriously so that you can get to know his word.

Tip #3 – Make Goals & Stick to Them

By sticking to a Bible reading routine, you’ll develop the healthy habit of reading the Bible every day.  Even if it means starting with just a few minutes a day, it will help you.  Before you know it, you will be fully devoted to the Bible.  Eventually, your days will start and end with the Bible and you’ll look forward to it each day.

Tip #4 – Schedule Time for the Bible

You need to find a sacred place and time where you devote yourself to the Bible.  During this time, Pastor Maury Davis wants you to disconnect from the world—no distractions allowed.  Keep a journal on hand to write down things you learned from the Bible that day.

Tip #5 – Reschedule Other Things If You Have to

Your day might be full of many things, but if you really want to learn the word of God, try to reschedule other activities so they don’t interfere with your Bible reading.  It is very important to dedicate time to the Bible, even if it means getting up a few minutes early each day.

Tip #6 – Become a Part of a Small Group to Encourage You

If you are one of those people who needs a little encouragement, don’t worry, Pastor Maury Davis suggests enrolling yourself in a small Bible group study.  You can visit the Cornerstone Church in Nashville, as they always have Bible study sessions.  Having a place to go and people to read the Bible with will prevent you from coming up with an excuse not to read the Bible.  It will also help you engage in conversation and learn more about God’s word.

Tip #7 – Set Up Reminders

Why not utilize technology to your advantage and set up reminders on your phone or computer?  If you are a busy person, these reminders will come in handy.  But don’t worry, because Pastor Maury Davis knows that once your reading becomes a habit, you will no longer need these reminders.
